Alumni outcomes

Over 6 years. ERA has supported over 200 researchers. Since January 2026, fellows have completed the AIxBio Fellowship across two cohorts in Cambridge. We give our fellows ownership of a concrete research problem at the intersection of frontier AI and biosecurity, matched with an expert mentor and supported day to day by a research manager. They also have the space to think deeply and develop their own views on the problems they are working on.

As such, our alumni leave with the skills, knowledge and networks to work on biosecurity in government, research institutes, industry and academia.

Fellow Testimonials

Aleksandra Wosztyl (Summer 2026)

The ERA AIxBio Fellowship brought together incredibly inspiring people who don't hesitate to ask sharp questions and genuinely want to help you make your work as impactful as possible. Being surrounded by people who care deeply about these problems and are seriously working to make the world better left me feeling less alone and more hopeful about our ability to make AI go well.

Elisabeth Mira Rothweiler (Summer 2026)

ERA enabled me to focus on emerging risk in AIxBiosecurity full-time and provided me with the opportunity to connect with excellent mentors, research managers and fellow researchers in the field.

Keaton Armentrout (Summer 2026)

ERA provided the ideal setting for rapid learning and focused work in a new field. With amazing support from mentors and other fellows, I could quickly start contributing to an impactful project in AI safety and biosecurity.

Ian Beatty (Winter 2026, Fourth Eon Bio)

The AIxBio fellowship was exactly, precisely, thoroughly what I hoped it would be. In fact, before it started I would have considered these hopes too high for a "realistic" best-case scenario. My mentor, my project, the program design, the staff, the peer cohort, the location: within error bars of "perfect". If I had paid for this, instead of being paid, I would consider it a bargain.

Pete Zushin (Summer 2026)

The most impactful aspect of the fellowship was the mentorship, exposure to the field of AIxBio, and hearing directly from invited speakers about their experiences. Coming to this space from a molecular biology background, the nuances of navigating AI risk are very different from traditional life sciences. The fellowship grounded my career path and helped me understand both where the field is today and where I can meaningfully help move it forward.

Lee Wall (Winter 2026)

Above all else, ERA provided a community of supportive and brilliant peers. Many of us have since pivoted or accelerated our careers into mitigating risks from progress in AI and biotechnology and would identify the fellowship as an inflection point in this trajectory. It's hard to overstate the morale boost from working with driven friends! If you want to make it your mission to prevent catastrophe and put us on course to a better future, but you've not taken the leap -- now's the time!
